Letter from Lee
Kauffman
Missionary to the Jola people of West Africa
Subject: July. 2008 Praise and Prayer Update for the Jola-fonyi people
Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2008 18:48:26 -0600
Bacary is the Imam (Muslim
religious teacher) in a Jola-fonyi village. He invites
missionaries and prayer walkers to pray in the name of Jesus in his home
for his family and also invites them to pray anytime in the mosque.
Last year he asked Lee to give him a daily scripture calendar to put in
the mosque where it stayed all of 2007. He has heard several Bible
stories and says they are good but doesn’t seem interested in knowing
more about Jesus. Pray that God would reveal Himself to Bacary
and that he would want to know Jesus as his Savior.
August is normally the wettest
month of rainy season. In the past several years rainy season has
been coming later and quitting earlier so we are receiving less moisture
each year. Last year there was little rice because there was not
enough water in the rice fields. Pray that this year would
be a good rainy season with record amounts of moisture. Pray
that the Jola people would know that this moisture is a gift from God
and that they would praise and thank God for this gift. Pray
that they would want to know more about Jesus and accept Him as their
Savior.
