Letter from Lee Kauffman
Missionary to the Jola people of West Africa

Sent: Thursday, January 04, 2007 5:30 AM
Subject:
January 2007 Praise and Prayer Request for the Jola-fonyi

Thank you for praying for the team coming from Idaho.  Praise God that all of our prayers were answered!  Even though there were a few bandit problems in the area and there were fuel shortages, we had safe travels each and every day.  We were graciously accepted into each village.  Everyone stayed healthy and the Lord led the team to adopt the village of Dioloulou.  Sunday we revisited the village and were able to make contact with two high school students that we met on our first visit to the village.  Aissitou even invited us to have lunch with her family.  Please pray for NorthRidge Fellowship as they prayerfully seek God's will in evangelizing this village.

The Jesus film was shown in Sunni Dec. 16th.  Almost everyone in the neighborhood came to watch the film.  There were several distractions but most everyone stayed until the film was over.  Every person present clearly heard the gospel presented.  The following week the Kauffman's met with a group of 6 or 7 people but none of them made a firm decision to follow Jesus, even though some of them said they believe in Jesus.  Pray that they would have a true understanding of who Jesus is and that they can not follow both Jesus and Mohammad.

January 29-February 9 we will have a volunteer dental team coming to minister to people in Koubalan and Bougoutoub.  We will be in Koubalan January 29-February 1 and in Bougoutoub February 3-8.  Please pray for the three person team as they prepare to come; Dr. Ron and Janet Key and Mary Nichols.  Pray for travel safety and health of the dental team and the Jola team.  Please pray for the hearts of the people to be open towards hearing about the saving grace of Jesus Christ after their health needs are met.  We know that many times a person whose health needs is met first are much more willing to hear afterwards about what we have to share with them.

The Kauffman's asked permission to start a storying group in the neighborhood of Banni and they said they would be willing to begin studying the Bible after rice harvest was over.  Pray that this group could get started this next month and that the final result of this group would be people accepting Jesus as their Savior, them following Jesus and starting a church all before the Kauffman's leave for stateside in December 2007.

The Imam in Bougoutoub came and asked Lee for a daily scripture calendar to put in the mosque.  Of course Lee gave him one.  Pray that he and others would read the daily scriptures and commentary while in the mosque.  Pray that the power of God's word would be made evident in their hearts.
