Letter from Lee Kauffman
Missionary to the Jola people of West AfricaSubject: April Praise and Prayer Request for the Jola-fonyi people

Several months ago we asked you to pray for Lee and Sekou as they visited Soly, an older man who was sick and lived in a neighboring village. Many people had told him about Jesus and he said he believed the stories about Jesus were true, but to our knowledge he had not asked Jesus into his heart.
He passed away in mid-June. As we look around Bougoutoub we see many older people getting weak and frail and realize their time to hear about Jesus is passing by quickly. Pray that God would reveal Himself to them; that they would want to hear His word with open ears, hearts, and minds; that we would not miss opportunities to witness to them; and that they would ask Jesus into their hearts before it is too late.
A team from Maryland has adopted the Jola Gusilay and they will be in Thionk Essil and Bougoutoub July 6-14. While in Thionk Essil they will be staying at a campement (no star hotel) that is near a sacred forest. Please pray for God's guidance and protection over Katie, Tracy, Jim, and Wes. Pray for their families while they are away from them. Prepare the hearts of the Jola people that come across their path that they would be prepared to not only hear the gospel with their ears, but would be ready to have Jesus in their hearts.
Pray for the believers in Koubalan as they seek to worship God. They are even now asking, "how does someone worship God?" We hope that they will see how to worship God and will practice what they learn from Him.
Pray that the Jola peoples will see the futility of their traditional religion and of Islam to bring them into relationship with God. Pray that they will come to know the Truth and be set free.
Pray for the rains to come and for there to be a good harvest. The rains are late in starting this year.
