Leadership at NorthRidge Fellowship
At NorthRidge Fellowship, we believe that as leaders we are to follow the example of Jesus, a servant-leader. Jesus makes it clear in John 13:14 that those who follow Him must practice this servant love: “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one anothers feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”
Christian leadership flows out of one’s relationship with Christ. Therefore our concern is not “What do we want to do?” but rather “What is Christ doing in and through us? How is the life of Christ being tangibly expressed in our life together as a church?” With Jesus as the Chief Shepherd, our leadership team strives to serve and lead as the Apostle Paul did – “For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
NorthRidge Fellowship follows an an Elder-led model of church leadership. In this model the church is led by a plurality of qualified leaders, to provide oversight and direction for the church. We believe it most closely follows the New Testament pattern for local church leadership. A plurality of elders helps protect against heresy or false teaching and facilitates different elders with different gifts, to bring a wide range of biblical insight and wise counsel to the leadership team as a whole.
