to glorify God!

NorthRidge Fellowship exists to
glorify God by loving Him, loving one another, and loving our community
and the world.
Mankind was created to glorify God. God states in Isaiah 43:7, “Everyone
who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have
formed him, yes, I have made him.” God’s glory is the umbrella that
everything else in life falls under. The Apostle Paul writes in 1
Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do
it all for the glory of God.” He also writes in 1 Corinthians 6:20, “For
you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” This is the
pervasive theme of the Christian life: living for the glory of God. And
glorifying God is valuing Him above all other things and letting that
value be seen in how we live our lives.
But God’s glory is not only the purpose for existing as individuals; it
is also our purpose for existing as a church. God’s glory is to be the
“why” behind everything that we do as a church and as a people of God.
And as the church glorifies God it is not just seen in the things that
we say; it is demonstrated in the way that we live together as a people
of God.
So the big picture for why NorthRidge Fellowship exists is for God’s
glory. But God is glorified as we extend our love in three distinct
directions: toward God, toward others within the church, and toward our
community and the world. With this in mind, there are three
relationships that the church is to be concerned about: a relationship
with God, a relationship with those in the body of Christ here at
NorthRidge Fellowship, and a relationship with those outside the walls
of the church that extends to all the peoples of the world. This kind of
thinking helps us to broaden our horizons for what church is all about
and provides a balance for our ministry, giving us a three dimensional
focus as we seek to glorify God: our focus is up, our focus is in, and
our focus is out.
Take some time this week and meditate upon the Great Commandment
(Matthew 22:35-40), the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), and the
summary statement of what the early church in Jerusalem was doing (Acts
2:41-47). Note how the focus of these passages is on God, each other,
and those outside the church. Also, think about how these passages apply
to the ministry here at NorthRidge Fellowship as we seek to glorify God
by loving Him, loving one another, and loving our community and the
world!
